Fake call centre busted, five co-directors arrested
NOIDA: Five persons were arrested here on Thursday in a joint raid conducted by the Rajasthan and Noida police on a fake call centre for allegedly cheating people by offering lotteries and investments in the stock market.
The accused persons were identified as Ikram Khan and Mohammad Amir, residents of Jamia Nagar in Delhi, and Shahid Khan, Mohammad Yamin and Mehraj Alam, residents of Indirapuram in Ghaziabad. All the five accused are co-directors of a fictitious company — Indo Spires Journey Ltd — with its address as A-74, Noida’s Sector 2.
Vivek Ranjan Rai, inspector at Noida’s Centre for Cyber Crime Investigation (CCCI), said a person named Bhagwan Sahaya (64) had registered a complaint alleging fraud of Rs 40 lakh in the name of lottery at the Ashok Nagar police station in Jaipur on April 27, 2017.
